Overcast. Temps in the 30s at the base, but well below that at the top. Occasional flurries. There for a GS race with 4 athletes. Chief was well-prepared - pretty hard surface up top, and corning up at the bottom. Really fun-looking sets, but LONG - around 1:10 for the winners; almost 1:30 for a lot of those in the back of the pack.

I spent most of the day slipping - and man did the '17 SLs get dull from that effort.

Athletes were okay - too tentative for 2, and 2 DNF1 (but were going for it). Still, a positive day. Wrapped up the day with a couple of free runs with athletes and parents. The dull skis and flat light really wigged me out - felt like I couldn't rely on getting grip, and that's a new sensation for me this year. Still, fun, even without poles.

Good day all around - though I don't think I'll be going to Okemo on a weekend for fun anytime soon; just way too many people bombing around.
